A full battery will show 12.5 - 12.9 volts. To crank and start the bike you might get by with around 12 - 12.1.

This doesn't seem to get any easier...

After checking with the dealer, the opinion there was that the BT+ that I have should be adequate for the task. This, I think was also Deltran's contention, but BMW asked for a BMW specific algorithm for the absorption phase of charging, so Deltran manufactured a BMW gell battery specific charger.

Checking on the progress this evening, not much progress. Battery at 9.57v and noticeably losing charge when not on tender. My thoughts are that the battery is kaput, so have one as back up. Guess I'm headed to the dealer tomorrow as well.

Doesn't help that my charging system in the Duc has taken a holiday as well...
