I think the man from Florida put it best, " there's a whole other motorcycling world out there" or something very similar to that, and it seems to be contagious! grin Good for you Joe, I'd love a month or so to do some exploring like that. thumbsup

That's a heck of a way to welcome the end of your 63rd year, Joe. I'm impressed and inspired by your tale. Thanks for all of those photos too.
Sounds to me like some of those heights are sobering.

That was cool.

Agree about the White Rim Trail, did it on a mountain bike though.

Right on Joe! That's a lot of days off road, strong work. Thanks for the report.

Great write-up Joe, and quite the adventure. It's not easy doing that day after day at our age, I know the feeling. I was in Salida most of July and ran into several solo riders and groups riding the COBDR up on Cumberland, Cottonwood, Weston, and Hagerman Passes. Sorry I didn't see you guys. Btw, I've ridden past Taylor Reservoir many times (between Tincup and Cottonwood) and it's almost always raining or snowing there at some time during the afternoon, must be a reason Aspen and Crested Butte get so much snow. I've done the COBDR route from Telluride to Eagle/Gypsum and it is beautiful, just need the two corners to complete. You've got me a little worried about that beaver dam on the Steamboat section though : )

Bill

I didn't just ride in on a Buell.
