So Randy asks me for a favor.......can I go check out a local bike for a buddy of his. Sure, why not? What could it hurt? I'm just trying to help out a friend. So I unassumingly ride 20 mins up the road and find a guy with a good 30+ motorcycles stashed between two large garages. The guy also happens to have a BMW E30 sitting in the driveway (another one of my passions). That struck up a conversation that I had one sitting my garage that I would like to get rid off. Turns out that his son owns a garage that specializes in BMW E30's and might be willing to take it off my hands.......and it turns out that he is on his way to the house right now. So in the meantime, the guy gives me the grand tour. That consisted of lots of airheads, a few hexheads, an HP2, a Tenere, a KTM, lots of bike parts, tires stacked 12 deep, and two Buells. I made a comment that I have always kind of wanted a Buell, but never really pursued it. Well, I guess that's all it took. Next thing I know, I'm sending pics of my car to the son and spending all of my free time researching Buells. One thing led to another, and this afternoon I helped load my car onto the son's trailer and unload a Buell S1 Lightning into its previous place in the garage

I have no idea what I'm getting myself into, but it looks and sounds like a lot of fun. I can't wait to get it out on the road an play around with it. The pics are kind of crap, but it will have to do until the weekend

Hanging out with its new stablemate

Go greased Lighting! Hope you enjoy it. Buells have been and always be pretty cool in my book.

I checked it out and gave it a thumbs up. It was a very well priced BMW G450X that had never left the pavement. I believe that deal has gone through as well.

Already have a nice little 5x8 with wood decking and an aluminum frame. I guess I'll need to add a wheel chock and some anchor points before spring grin

This is the only one I have handy. It was an '88 325is that was 100% original. The problem with it was that it had been sitting untouched in my garage for literally 10 years. I didn't really have the want or desire to wrench on it. Even if I put it back on the road, I could never envision myself driving it. I wouldn't want to use it for my brutal commute, and on a nice day it would have always been my 3rd choice (behind my GS and Wrangler). The car was probably worth more than the bike (especially if I took the time to get it running again).........BUT, that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. I took the opportunity to trade it for something that I wanted and will get more use out of. It made both the buyer and seller very happy with the trade. Plus the bike only takes up 1/4 the space in the garage, and is easier to move around.
