RT 1100 Lift

Recommended Posts

All,

I have a chance for free motorcycle lift, I have a 96 1100RT, will a typical MC lift work on this bike.

I looked at the bottom, I don't really see where it could be lifted without jacking it up on the Engine/Trans.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thank You,

Bodag

That type of lift will not work on the R1100RT, but just using the bike's center stand you are able to easily get both tires up enough for most routine work...one side at a time of course. Removing the top box, if you have one and adding some extra weigh to the rear rack will hold the front wheel up in the air.

Eddd,

Thanks, that's what I thought!

I'll probably end up putting it up on Craig's List.

Morning Bodag

Just remember that if you do use the center stand to work on the bike (like wheel removal) that you should use a strap or rope to tie the extended center stand to the bikes chassis or front end so it can't fold back to the up position . It is ever so easy to knock a BMW 1100 or 1150 off the center stand while working on it if it isn't secured.
