Question for Dirt Rider

Have you ever removed & replaced universal joint on R1200RT ?

Morning Mark

Yes, I have done a couple.

First problem is in finding the proper sized U joint (it's not a common sized joint), then cutting the old one out, then cleaning up the yoke cap bores without oversizing the bores, then pressing the new joint/caps in, then spinning shaft in a lathe with dial indicator to center the joint in the yoke, then tack welding washers over the caps in the yoke bores to retain the new U-joint caps. (it's not an easy do-it-yourself project without proper equipment)

Mark - did you intend to post this in Hexheads? The way you've framed your question - no insight to the issues you're facing and by limiting your question to just one person, you've kind of negated the point of this website. There are others here who have had universal joint problems and solutions.

+2 — and, anyone doing a search couldn't tell what this thread was about. You asked an excellent question - it deserves a descriptive title.
