I've had mine for close to 6 years.....pre ball-joint version. They haven't corrected a design omission though. There is a forward facing gap that allows grit into the detent ball. I returned mine for a repair when the ball locked up. I cleaned them, lubed them and then glued a rubber flap over that forward facing joint to keep it clean. Haven't had a problem since.

Wish I had thought of your rubber flap thingie. Mine kept locking up so I finally sold 'em.

A little WD40 does wonders! I've had a pair on bikes since they first came out. What was that, 2010? Love em.
