Has anyone fitted the BMW Weather protection kit (see http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fi...agram=46_1708&partnumber=46638548482) fiche # 46-1708

If so, do you have any hints and tips on fitting it? Any instructions that came with it etc?

Thanks

Thanks Andy, again never knew those parts existed. Looks like they would help keep road spray off your legs & boots! thumbsup

Well they are certainly appreciated by some of the UK police force!

I would guess that the hardware could be purchased locally for much less than BMW is charging. The nuts, bolts, and washers total over $61!

You're possibly right. however, the bolts are BMW's shouldered bolts - like the rest of the fairing bolts. My BMW dealer gave me an acceptable discount. .

Well thanks to all of you. The kit all fitted perfectly and with the photographs and SweRT's pdf provided on the R1200RT forum it was a doddle. Now when I get out in the rain, I will give you feedback as to if I think it is worth it. So far, I think they are worth paying more than the alternative ones that are available because of the fit, finish and integration.

I fitted these bits to my RT a year back and they are really good, just cannot work out why they are not fitted to every bike. The weight and cost savings must be very small.

I cannot remember if they can with instructions but I think they may have, anyway fitting was not difficult but was a bit fiddly.

Hope this helps.
