I pryed up the old oil cap holder with o ring No problem

How do I insert the new one. It just wont pop in no matter how hard I push

Whats the trick?

Have you tried Tri750’s method?
“...a pocket screwdriver and patience will get the plastic base out fine.
Clean the residual oil, new o ring and press down with one thumb while you slowly tuck the oring in with the same screwdriver around the perimeter of the plastic base. Just small bites at a time.
It will work in.

I used a socket the same size as the insert, and tapped it in with a mallet. What size you say?, well I don't remember off hand. I also used some EZ Turn to lube up the "O" ring to ease the installation.
