Soft saddlebags?

Recommended Posts

Hello Team:

I am using my new to me R1200RT as my daily mode of transportation but I think the stock hard bags are to big for my daily commute needs. They are fine for the long trips where you need to carry more but what about just for the daily commute? Any alternatives in softbags?

Thinking bout the Nelson Rigg touring bags.

Anyone here using soft saddlebags?

Soft bags work well, if you can figure out a good way to attach them, and you don't mind stuff getting wet. The are better for commuting - and splitting.

Of all the soft bags I've used this one was the best.

Do you already have a top box? If not, that's the way to go.

I agree with this. Mostly the saddlebags (stock/hard) stayed at home except for trips or when I had a lot of stuff for work. For general commuting or day trips I'd just use a top box - lockable/secure, adds zero width to the bike, waterproof, and mine had an extra brake light so it also added visibility from the rear.

Soft bags ... I don't know, they seem like a hassle as far as attaching, using, securing.
