Michaelr11
Side stand up? Neutral light on? Is the rider display showing the time, gear selection 0, and fuel level? Link to comment
dirtrider
turn key fuel pump kicks on but won't start. No spark no fuel. What do you think And where do you start. Morning Walt If you (FOR SURE) have fuel pump run at key-on then your kill switch is "on" & your side stand switch is making contact (both are needed for fuel pump relay operation). Have you recently washed the bike or ridden through heavy rain? If so then possibly an HES problem (both a spark & fuel injection depend on the HES (Hall Effect Sensor) for operation. Tell us all you can about last time the bike started OK, what has been done to the bike since last time it ran OK, ANYTHING, including moving bike, washing bike, storing bike, ANYTHING! wqbusch
All that is good. It was running just fine then just shut off like I hit kill switch but I didn't. Link to comment
wqbusch
Bike was just recently torn down for clutch replacement. This happened right after that. Link to comment

Morning Walt Are you 100% positive it is the fuel pump that you hear run (for about 3 seconds) when you turn the key on (very important info on where we look next) Link to comment
dan cata
Although not needed, was the HES disconnected for the clutch replacement? Dan Link to comment

dirtrider
Fuel pump is cycling on when I turn the key. Afternoon Walt Well, if you are sure the fuel pump is running then it is pointing to the HES or something HES controlled. If you recently washed the bike or rode though a lot of wet conditions then probably go right to the HES. If the bike has remained dry then probably look at the HES to bike harness connection, also pull the front belt cover to see if the alternator belt has come apart & ripped up the HES wire pig tail. You might also try a 20 minute fuse #5 removal to clear the Motronic as it might be locked out (don't really know how without a GS-911 but should be eliminated). Then re-install the fuse #5 & see if it will start. Could even be as complicated as a failing Motronic but if the fuel pump runs for 3 seconds at key-on the that is not real likely. Link to comment
