The only plastic that I travel with is a credit card & a G***k . Maybe as a weight saver BMW could just include a much smaller 3-D printer in a tank bag that is only large enough to print a credit card. Link to comment

They do make 3D printers that work with sintered metal, but it's commonly only half the tensile strength of what that parent material should be. Of course, based on some of the final drive failures I have heard of, that might be an improvement. Link to comment
