jelake
Just started cleaning the replacement cylinder heads for my RT (picked up a couple of used ones from EBAY) and working off the carbon on the valves. Was curious if anyone had a technique they preferred over something else? I have read on the net between using B12 or some other form of carb cleaner, used a abrasive polishing brush from my dremel on med speed last night to break off the major accumulations of carbon which seemed to work well, but obviously cant get into the tighter spots. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment
Mike279
I always release the valves to check everything on a used part. With valves in hand dropping them into the bucket of carb cleaner is easy. The carb cleaner won't bother the steel. Some carb cleaners can affect the aluminum if left on too long so I usually do short applications until I reach a point that I am happy with. Take your time and make sure to smooth any nicks you find or make. Mike Link to comment
