John Ranalletta
Though diamonds are now valued because they're "rare" - a fiction perpetuated by DeBeers, I've always thought the most rare commodity is the common sense some people fail to display in the presence of a diamond. I hope this hoard of diamonds destroys the "rare" ruse, although DeBeers has probably tied up the mineral rights already. How many young couples strained in the early years of marriage to pay off a diamond wedding ring. Sheer lunacy! Edited July 19, 2018 by John Ranalletta Link to comment
lkraus
Agree that marketing has led many to overspend on tiny bits of rock, but recent discoveries will not mean much to the current market. From your link:"Unfortunately, there's no way to access the gemstones — as drills are unable to dig 200 miles into the Earth's crust." Edited July 19, 2018 by lkraus Link to comment
elkroeger
Interesting, but it's probably easier to collect them from the moon! But then if you got moon rocks, then you got moon rocks! Who cares what it's made of? Put that on your girl's ring! Moon rocks: $50K / gram Link to comment
