100 miles per year

If I am to believe my ears, this is the conversation I had with a co-worker today:

She: You have a BMW! So do we! But we never ride it.

Me: Cool! Which one? What year?

S: I'll text my husband. We only have a couple hundred miles on it.

M: (Thinks: oh, brand new)

S: Husband says it's an '03 K1200RS. It's red, I really like it!

M: :0

M: How many miles? You got this new?

S: Yes! 1500 miles! We REALLY never ride it!

I just had to stop speaking at that point.

I think they would sell it if you wanted a museum-quality low mileage time capsule!

With a water/ oil pump seal ready to blow the moment any miles and heat got put on it and an ABS modulator that is ready to take a dump when the bike is used for more than an hour, the next ride it goes on, unless the fuel pump freezes up first from being submerged in old ethanol gas for a long time.

Then there's the masters and calipers.

They don't "keep" well. Worse than the boxers.

I have seen similar a few times-- If they only live 1/2 mile from a Starbucks then the miles just don't accumulate.
