Dave P
Hi all- 96 R1100RT, I'll be putting a new rear tire on soon, and will be taking the loose wheel / tire to be mounted up. Other than changing the rear drive fluid, I've never really done any "service" to the read end. Everything feels fine and tight when I ride it. I am planning to do the vertical "lift the rear end" test to feel for notchy-ness in the pivot bearings. Not prepared for any major disassembly right now, but what sort of clean / grease / inspect procedure should I do while I've got the rear wheel off? Thanks! Michaelr11
Other than changing the fluid, there is no maintenance. Check the rear end periodically for any play either horizontally or vertically. Personally, for the amount of fluid in there, I would change the fluid every 6K maintenance cycle, not every 12K.
