The Rocketman
Please help me identify this part I found on my garage floor. I've heard that a million times, but now its my turn. Could have been from 1 of 3 bikes: 2009 R1200RT, 2002 R1200C, or 2005 R1200C Montauk. No mechanical work done at the time, just moving them around. I'm leaning towards the RT as I know the C's inside & out and never saw this before. Know the RT real well, but not as well as the others. Pliable rubber, p/n S40250.003 FTE about the size of a penny. Found 2 Google hits on it; one possibly a brake component dust cover; the other part of the "flux capacitor". While the 2nd answer is amusing, I'd appreciate the real answer. If I lost it on the road, I'd never know and not lose sleep. But I didn't, and I am. Thanks much. szurszewski
Found another vote for cover on the brake system - specifically someone on Pelican Parts, back in 2003, found the same part and decided it covered a banjo fitting on his S: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/bmw-r1100s-r1200s-tech-forum/123710-what.html Link to comment
The Rocketman
I think we found it. It appears to be BMW part number 34327666399 on the front brake hose union. Thanks. Link to comment
