Any updates from someone who has used this replacement?

If you mix vodka, orange juice and milk of magnesia... Do you get a Phillips screwdriver?

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

I bought one and didn't notice any reception difference. Mainly I bought it to avoid having to remove the standard antenna every day when I put the bike cover on. I typically listen to the FM radio using the Sena as it gets better reception...at least in the morning on the way to work listening to NPR on 88.1.

I have the one bought on Amazon and find it works great.

I bought the $25 one from Amazon. It fits perfectly, looks like it was OEM, and now I don't have that damned aerial whipping around in my line of sight anymore! I don't use the radio but I compared a radio station while in my garage and didn't notice the slightest difference.

I took off the OEM aerial and put a bolt in the hole. Kept the threads clear for when I put the antenna back to sell the bike, had zero interference with a cover and no effect whatever on the reception because I don't listen to terrestrial radio at all.

Has anyone tried the even shorter Stubby JR version from CravenSpeed, or other vendor? It says it is 2 inches which is about 1 inch shorter that the original Stubby.

If the good old days were so damn good, why did we bother to invent modern times?

I was on a trip earlier this year, and stayed at a hotel in Boise... When I came out in the morning, I found that some sub-optimal-person had stolen my OEM antenna. I remembered this post, and found a universal replacement at Autozone for about $12. I think the $20 version has a faux carbon fiber look. Woo. In any case the universal antenna did fit, although it has a wider diameter than the BMW antenna base, and so it doesn't look quite right. I can't speak to function because I don't listen to terrestrial radio.

I bought the Craven Speed replacement when I returned home from my trip, and it fits better and looks better than the Autozone item.

As an aside, on the very next evening, at another hotel in Oregon, somebody took a key and gouged a 3-inch mark on my color-matched tailcase. I wish there was a $25 fix for THAT!
