walterohlinger
2004 R1150RT 60k miles. Just returned from a 2000 mile ride to Yosemite. While on the trip I noticed my engine started chugging, ie making a idle clunking sound from right cylinder and hesitating from stop thru first gear. When I returned I changed all plugs and coils...still chugging. What should I look at next? Link to comment

I would say that a compression test would probably be the next logical move. Might also swap the fuel injectors side to side to see if the problem moves with the injectors. Possibly check the valve lash & look at the rocker arms to make sure no problems with the valve operation. Link to comment
walterohlinger
Yeah, the sound is very faint..the wife says she cant hear anything, but I recognize the change in idle. Injector swap is a good idea...thanks! Link to comment
Alan Sykes
Yes, s Dirt Rider opines, suspect the Stick Coils if there's any change in smooth idling, running and general "carburation". As my local BMW specialist says :- "If it's not the fuel supply system, or valve gapping or timing, or throttle synch.... IT'S A DUFF STICK COIL !" Link to comment
AndyS
IT'S A DUFF STICK COIL !" Hes says in his original post that he has changed all the coils. Link to comment
dan cata
Check if the fuel lines did not take off the R/H side throttle cable from it's recess, from the pressure build up Dan. Link to comment
