Stir has created a Google Map that can display these food places, and has added his suggestions. Add yours. Would help with Trip planning.
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=203190046669386464269.0004ac711376ca34d9dc0
The URL is private so you have to be told about it to see it. However, anyone can see and edit the map. Enter your address into the search bar. Your eatery should show on the map. Click it. A description should show up and one of the options is to add the location to the custom map.

They may not be the absolute best food in Alaska (per above, that distinction is owned by the Perch), but they are pretty darn good, with an interesting menu, and the cabins are a great place to bed down in as well.

I'll get things rolling again by adding the Crosswinds Restaurant at the municipal airport in Payson, AZ. As I understand it, this is a pretty regular breakfast stop of the Arizona Rim Riders. We had the pleasure when we road with them on Sunday.
The service was down home friendly and the breakfast was delicious--biscuits and gravy with real sausage gravy and some of the best eggs benedict I've tasted. The omelets looked great and the home fries were good too. They don't just serve breakfast and I hear that they cater too. There are tables that can be put together family style and theres a big picture window that looks out on the planes and the view beyond.

Don Pericos Mexican Restaurant
4701 White Ln. Ste. D
Bakersfield, CA 93309

Don Perico's is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in California. Thankfully, it is located far enough away from Sacramento that I can only stop there every year or so, because I'm sure the calories last from one visit to the next. It is located just south of the intersection of Hwys 5 and 99, at the foot of the Grapevine, next to a Ramada Inn. They do a great job on their Red Snapper and Shrimp dishes, as well as the more traditional Mexican fare.

While on our way to the 49'er rally in Aburn we reserved tent cabins for one night. The restaurant opened at 5:00 pm and the 3 of us sat down for dinner. Everything seemed a little pricey so the 3 of us split an 18" pizza, $18.95 and well worth it.
It was huge! And all 3 of us agreed that no where could you find a better pizza. Without a doubt the best pizza I have ever eaten in 53 years.

We spent a very interesting and yummy afternoon in Tip Top Meats , European Delicatessen in Carlsbad, CA in North Coastal San Diego County. This is an Old World style Butcher Shop and huge European Deli. There are large selections of cheeses, wursts, smoked and fresh meats, breads and all manner of European packaged foods. They have spätzle, knödel, jams, sauces, candy, wines, international and domestic beers, etc.
To top it all off, there's a cafe with a full menu, a tempting pastry case and great prices. For example, from the breakfast menu;
Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Big John's Breakfast - $5.98
3 eggs any style, home fried potatoes and all of our delicious smokehouse bacon, pork link sausage, bratwurst or ham you can eat
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They're open all day. You'll find them if you take Palomar Airport Road, east off of I-5. Take the first right (Paseo del Norte), go about a block and you'll see it on the left.
This would make a great combo trip if you include a visit to the Carlsbad Flower Fields

GPS: N33 04.687 W116 36.108

Do you love real, old fashioned soda fountain fare? Try Miner's Diner in Julian, CA. Get real malts. the kind that are served in a glass with the remainder in the metal mixing can, on the side--two malts in one. Sundaes, phosphates and sodas like the ones you had as a kid (well, at least if you're over 40 ) Yummy stuff!!
Deli and Soda Fountain. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Sunday-Thursday 8-6, Friday and Saturday 8-8. Oldest marble topped Soda Fountain in San Diego County. This was the Julian Drug Store. Now that is next door and more room is given for the Soda Fountain. Burgers, sandwiches, soda fountain. The food is OK but the desserts from the old fashion Soda Fountain are not to be missed.
This place is on the corner of Main and Washington just as you enter Julian from Santa Ysabel on Hwy 78/79. Turn right, park and walk across the street.
The riding to get there and in the surrounding area is almost as sweet as the desserts!

This isn't a stop and dash meal but if you're overnighting in the Mendocino, Ca area it is a great place to eat.
Reservations are mandatory as there are only 7 tables. They can only serve 20 persons at a time and there are 2 sittings -5:30pm and 8pm. It is a variation on a prix fixe meal. They have a number of entrees and the prices vary for each. But you get 5 (yes, 5) courses for your money. My wife and I ate for just over $75, including a glass of wine. That's not bad in a fairly expensive tourist area.

Once an Old West saloon in the late-19th century, the popular eatery in the quaint town of Nipomo is now a raucous, high-energy haven for lovers of good steak, especially those cooked Santa Maria-style over a roaring, fragrant oak fire. Pie Town isn't very big; in fact, it's pretty darn small. The Café is on US 60, on the south side of the road. Very easy to find. Pies are all home made, change daily, and look pretty good. I had the Triple Berry pie, which was tart and very tasty. I was too full to have it a la mode, since I had a very good chicken salad sandwich. Prices are reasonable, and everything looked great.
Pie Town does not have a gas station. I mistakenly thought that they did, and arrived with very little fuel. Fortunately, Mike, the owner of the café, is a rider, and keeps a few gallons of gas in his Hog Pen out back to sell to the occasional needy rider.
If you're passing through the area, Pie Town Daily Pie Café is definitely worth the stop. Next time, I'll be sure to leave room for the ice cream.

Good restaurants aren't hard to come by in this part of the world, but good restaurants in areas worthy of riding are.
The food is good, but it's everything else about Starved Rock Lodge that makes it a favorite riding destination. The Lodge is a 1930s vintage stone and log lodge located within Starved Rock State Park, a 2600 acre forest with 18 canyons, miles of hiking trails, and great views of the Illinois River Valley. This is one of the few areas in Illinois with good riding--the numerous back roads and the routes along the Illinois River are great fun, with some real twisties thrown into the mix.
On most weekends, from Spring through Autumn, you'll find an abundance of motorcycles at Starved Rock. You can enjoy liquid refreshments and a sandwich menu outside on the terrace, or order from a full menu in the restaurant. This place really hops on many weekends, so its advisable to call for reservations.

Could be right out of American Graffiti, but, refreshingly, it wasn't opened recently as a "retro" joint -- it's simply been there forever and hasn't changed. Basic drive-in food: dogs, burgers, fries, onion rings, etc. For something different, give the fried clams a try. Unfortunately, they don't have girls on roller skates bring the food out to you -- you have to go in and get it yourself.

The Chile Relleno is supposed to be great - I get the Jalisco Especial, which should be Spanish for "big plate of food". Dinner menu ranges from $7 - $12, with plenty of good food at the lower end of that range. Riding here is a bit boring, but the food is great. Also a location at 5514 Ritchie Hwy, Brooklyn, MD 21225

"Our Customers want good tasting food when they eat away from home. We aim to deliver what our Customers want. Most of the menu is traditional, with enough room to add creative, seasonal, and unusual items. Desserts are a big part of our menu because of who we are and our reputation for great homemade ice cream. "The building fits right in at Young's. The Golden Jersey Inn looks like a barn with open wood beam framing and wood plank siding. It looks like a barn because it actually is a barn, constructed with wood pegs and authentic style joinery very similar to our red barn that was built in 1869. The interior is really impressive with the big 9 by 13 inch oak timber frames, and a ceiling over 30 feet high!

this is a hibachi Korean restaurant frequented by the local asian populace and is an excellent example of this different style of barbecue. It's not a smoked meat type like American bbq but a sliced and seasoned meat style. Excellent with sides that include various spiced.& fermented vegetables. This is a worthy alternative to smoked barbecue.

good sized restaurant serving a full menu of burgers, 'cue & drinks (they have a full bar). Nice staff and good food. Skip the babybacks - oversmoked to the point of being oily (as in petroleum, not olive oil) and.chemically tasting. Brisket here is so-so, served dry with no smoke ring. The pulled pork is excellent as are the St. Louis style ribs.

VERMONT

Trattoria La Festa
480 Mountain Road
Stowe, VT 05672

www.stowetrattorialasfesta.com
Great Italian food in a place probably not known for Italian food. A little more upscale, but still affordable - it is quaint, tasty, and in a great setting. If it is warm enough, you absolutely, positively must eat on the front porch - no excuses here - you'll be treated to great views. Order a bottle of wine off the extensive list, sit back, and watch the world go by...on a quiet night, the porch almost has a community atmosphere. Really, really good riding all around the Stowe area - and stop for fuel and stuff for the road at the Alpine Mart.

Right across the street from the Trapp Family Lodge (yup, the same ones as in the Sound of Music), the Austrian Tea Room is a totally German experience. Sit-down, but not really formal. There are other things on the menu, but I have never gotten past the selection of authentic Sausages with potatoes and warm red cabbage. Views from the patio are awesome. You may even see one of the von Trapps there! Again, riding is great, but be aware that if you continue up the mountain, there are gravel roads. It is a bit of a tourist-trap, but the sausages are worth it.

Simon Pearce - The Mill at Quechee
1760 Main Street
Quechee, VT 05059

This is a fancier place, but still worth the visit. Great food and spectacular views - the covered patio is cantilevered over a river - right in front of the waterfall for the Mill, and you can watch the local kids jump off the rocks into the water. All the food is great - don't miss the Vermont Cheddar Soup. Go for lunch - it is cheaper, just as good and the view is better in daylight. Simon Pearce is known for it's glass - and inside the Mill you can watch the artists at work blowing glass, making pottery - and in the basement you can check out the water-driven electric generators that power the mill. More great riding in the area, including Quechee Gorge.

RAE's Place (was The Appetite Repair Shop) CLOSED!!! (Confirmation requested)
20 Main Street
Sperryville, VA 22740

Paul: Great food, friendly service. Years ago was the "Appetite Repair Shop".
bootzilla: It has been years since I have been there, but it apparently still exists, and if you are taking a ride down Skyline Drive, it is worth a visit. It is on the east side of the park, right off of 211 in the tiny town of Sperryville. As the name may suggest, the place has an automotive theme, and is dressed up like an old garage. I had a great blackened chicken samdwich the day I stumbled across it. Obviously, with it's location, there are plenty of great roads to ride here. Good out-of-the-way joint.

On a recent trip to Vancouver we discovered Vij's - without a doubt the absolute best Indian food I have ever had. It's a little place, they don't take reservations, and you have to be in line by 5pm for a 5:30 opening. The lamb currey is amazing.

This was the worst looking place I've eaten at in a very long time (which is saying a lot since I tend to patronize dives) but my buddy talked me into having dinner there based on his previous experience. They had the best fish taco plate that I've enjoyed in years. If you are looking for Baja style fish tacos, this is the place.

Thank you Stir for creating this awesome resource. And thanks for those responsible for organizing it. You rock!

I added all the Eastern states and Canadian locations. If it isn't on the map it is because Google and the USPS couldn't find it and the phone number didn't work and I couldn't find any reference to it online. Or it was added after Feb. 8, 2012.

I put the existing comments in as well, only correcting spelling and obvious punctuation errors. GPS, if it was included, was added as well as several website addresses and a few phone numbers.

Please update any info you find to be incorrect. I apologize for any errors my food- and sleep-deprived cranium caused. Didn't think it was going to take this long. Guess being unemployed has some advantages.

I am the map god. grin

Bob's Small Town Grill in Royston, GA. Don't recall the street number, but, it is on Railroad Ave in Royston.

Just had an awesom hot Italian sausage with penne pasta.

Will be passing back through this weekend and plan to try the steaks.

Cool little small town bar with a wide selection of beers and ales.

Well worth a detour.

Everything listed in the Western States is added in as of 6 p.m. EDT 6/9/2012.
Followed the same procedure as my previous post for the Eastern States listings. Same qualifiers as well.
The restaurant listing now covers 2 pages and I still need to fill the Middle States and any additions.
