Does anyone know yet whether that redesigned windshield will fit the earlier RT's? If so, are new brackets required? I just ordered a Cal Sci windshield today - moments before the possibility of changing to a '10 BMW windshield occurred to me.

I don't know if the 2010 will fit earlier models, but the Cal Sci screen gets two thumbs up from me. I really don't know what BMW was thinking with the original windscreen on the '09 - '05 models. I probably had my windscreen on my bike three days before I said "enough is enough" and ordered the Cal Sci screen. Made all the difference in the world.

At the NYC international bike show a BMW rep. told me it is a totaly new windscreen and won't fit older R12RTs.

This is a question yet to be answered, but I suspect the answer will be yes. From all the photos I've seen of the 2010s, the windshield mounting brackets appear to be unchanged.

I find the screen OEM on my 2008 Rt fantastic. Can't see a problem.

What is the problem with these windshields?

Of all the reviews of the MY 2010 that I have seen, I have not seen anything that compares the screen with previous models. Does anyone know whether the new screen is as good as, say, the CalSci?

For me, the stock windshield just wasn't tall or wide enough to give me and, especially my passenger, adequate protection from the wind. I replaced my stock windshield with a Ztechnik VStream. It provides a huge improvement in comfort for us over the stock screen.

Time will tell, but it's obviously larger and wider than the previous OEM windshield, an acknowledgment by BMW that the former screen provided inadequate protection for many of us (a fact clearly evidenced by brisk sales of aftermarket windshields).

In the UK, the dealer launch of the 2010 models is on 6th February. I plan to take a tape measure..............

Some friends who saw the 2010 bikes at a show, say that the screen arms are different (?stronger). I'll report my findings.

The improved height and 'wraparound' sides of the 2010 screen will hopefully be a big improvement over the original stock screen.
