1997 R1100RT - 107,000 miles.

Spent 2 afternoons taking it apart.

A picture of the clutch splines. They show virtually no wear.

I figured i would have to replace the input shaft and then change bearings and seals.

I am now wondering if I should even do anything to the transmission.

Well, IMHO, the old saying "While I was in there..." certainly holds true!

I would change the seals thumbsup

From the rusty brown look of the gearbox input splines, I'd take a closer look. Rusty brown is not a good sign for splines. Clean them up and post a close-up pic of them if you can. The splines look a bit tapered to me in this photo, but it's hard to tell.

What kind of lift table are you using? I'd like to have one around but I don't have enough garage space. Did you take the trans off with the final drive still attached?

I have a Handy lift table.

Winter came early this year. Plenty of time to get it finished. Being a college (physics) instructor does not hurt either.
