This trip is going to be a hoot! Myself and 2 riding buddys are heading out from Yuma AZ to Daytona for bike week. Maybe see some of you on the road.

I live here. The races are good at the speedway. You can usually buy general admission tickets without the worry of them being sold out like the car races. You can test ride almost any bike. The ones in demand at the speedway require you to get there at 8 a.m. sometimes to reserve a spot for later in the day. The vendors tents are also at the speedway and the bike show and vendors at the Ocean Center isn't bad. The Iron Horse Saloon is a must if you haven't been there before and they have good bands every night.

I am going also from the San Diego area. Leaving the 6th maybe we will see you guys. We were planning on going thru Ok, Ak, Ten if weather permits.

Please show us your route if you are going through Alaska (AK)...Check the condition of your tires before you leave. Me thinks going through Arkansas (AR) might be a more direct route...

In all seriousness there is a lot of good short track racing to be seen during bike week. Enjoy yourself...

Nascar is the buzz right now in town. The Daytona 500 is tomorrow. There's a few bikes in town, not too many. Come next week, the flood gates will open and things start to pick up for the festivities. There's lots to see and do, Enjoy your stay. Watch out for the crazies.

I've seen all the major manufacturer's and associated vendor's semis headed east on I-40 this week. The throng is coming to you!

Don't forget the Cabbage Patch...

The 500 crowd is considerably down from years past. Lots of orange cones and traffic officers, but little traffic. Don't expect bike week to be much different. The last few years have been dwindling. Biketoberfest was lack luster, hopefully thats not a guage of bike week this year. The Cabbage Patch is an experiance, Boot Hill and the other bars on US 1 heading out of Ormond Beach toward Destination Daytona are pretty much dives, and Ormond Beach PD has little sense of humor during the events. The vintage and flat track races are the most fun, and you can always get a day pass at the gate for the infield fairly cheap. Plus its nice to ride your bike onto the infield, park and watch the vintage races. There is always at least on bike during a heat catch fire. Be carefull taking the scenic routes, especially up Dixie Highway, Volusia County SO are always running radar around the state park, Bunnell PD camps out at US 100 and HWY 11, and Flagler Beach PD runs radar on A1A.
