I say we ask Michael to reload Lake Topaz! Great location, it had on-site everything, and the riding could not have been better.

My first UN and it was great. IIRC Tank had a broken rear frame and it was taken to a welder in town who fixed him up good as new.

Bud, that was Randy with the broken rear frame…. I just had the tools to help him remove enough parts to let the welder have room to work…. turned into a all day affair. More Gunnison please.

Thanks for the correction Tank! My memory has always been bad and now it's getting worse so someone has to keep me on the straight and narrow. Who had the rear with the cord showing?

Going to be in Gunny next summer while spending two weeks in CO with my ridding buddy. Good times, good people, good memories.

First time I had met anyone from BMWST face to face, except for Dances with Dogs who was in Morrison, CO for the regular Saturday Beemer breakfast.

I haven't had too many Beemers, I just don't have enough time.

It's obvious that everyone loves Colorado. And we've had Uns at Gunnison twice, and in Salida (65 miles to the east). I'm looking into a possible location in Montrose, CO, about 65mi west of Gunny. The location there has 67 rooms, which will hold about 85 people, has a nice pool in an enclosed area with a thatch roof patio and 2-3 BBQ's, the Red Barn (a sports bar and restaurant) is 30 yards away, there's a liquor store across the street as well as a Chinese restaurant. For those wishing to camp, take a look at the KOA Campground in Montrose, which is about .3mi from the hotel. Very, very nice.

The hotel offers a reasonably hearty free breakfast, a bike washing station, and is located at the top end of the Million Dollar Highway, the Uncompahgre Forest, riding loops through Durango, Wolf Creek Pass, Slumgullion Pass, Lake City and back, as well as Telluride, through Dolores, back through Durango and up the Million$$Hwy, to name just a few. And the dual-sport riding is almost endless.

For the adventurous, Moab and back is a day ride, and for the really crazy, you can leave Montrose at 5AM, take the twisty route through Blanding UT, and up UT 395 and 24 to have lunch in Torrey (about 7 hrs) and get home just about the time the sun sets.

In case anyone wants to ride something with more than two wheels, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad out of Durango is a full day adventure, including herds of deer on CO50 on your late afternoon return from Durango. But don't worry, the speed limit on CO50 (Mil$$Hwy) is a mere 25 in many places.

I also understand that if you ride over to Whip and Lousie's new drug store in Salida, you get 10% off a root beer phosphate.

I'm not proposing this, but I thought I'd throw the location into the discussion since we keep hearing the echo of people who say, "COLORADO, Colorado, colorado."

Do you have a MotoReflective Reflective Kit (Link) for the rear of your BMW?

From Montrose, the Gateway Auto Museum (in Gateway, CO)
would be a nice day ride diversion. They have a really nice collection of American cars, and, when we were there a few years back, an OC chopper was on display.
