In order to add photos to your forum post, you must upload your photos to a web photo hosting site and embed links (URL) to the photos in your
post. There are several popular web sites available. Some examples are:
- Picasa Web Albums
Web hosting sites require that you create a user account so that you can store your photos, but they are typically either free, or allow you to try
it out for free, so you can see if you like it.
Once you have uploaded images to a hosting site, you can begin adding links (URLs) to these photos into your BMWST forum posts. Each photo hosting
site typically provides some way of generating the appropriate link (URL) for a given photo. However, that process is usually different for each
hosting site. Information on how to do this for a specific hosting site may be available in other posts in this forum. Otherwise, you will need to
follow the directions provided by your photo hosting site.
The link (URL) that you add to your BMWST forum post must be a link (URL) that is a direct link (URL) to an image on your web hosting site. Keep in
mind the following:
- If the link (URL) does not end with an image file extension such as ".jpg" or ".png", it isn't going to work.
- Hosting sites may have security restrictions to limit who can view the images. Be sure to adjust any security settings on your images so that
anyone with the link (URL) to the image can view it.
To add your image links (URLs) to a BMWST post, you can use the "Enter an image" button that you will find at the top of the "full reply" posting
form. (Look for the smile icon and scroll over to the fourth icon from the left) There are several ways to get to a full reply form, but one way is
to click on a "Reply" button at the bottom of one of the previous posts
and another way is to click on the "Switch to Full Reply Screen" button at the bottom of the forum page.
On the full reply screen, click on the "Enter an image" button and choose one of the options. I typically just use the first option.
In the dialog, enter the link (URL) for your image.
Please note that the dialog is pre-filled with "http://", which is useful if you needed to type in an image URL manually. However, if you are
pasting in an image link (URL) that you copied from a web hosting site, your link (URL) should already start with "http://" (or "https://"). So
please be sure that your image link (URL) doesn't end up having two copies of "http://" in the front of it after you paste in your link (URL). To
paste in the link (URL) you copied from your web hosting site, press CTRL/V (COMMAND/V on Mac)
Click on the "OK" button, and your image should be added to your post.
You can check to see how your photo will look in your post by clicking on the Preview Post button. Now, scroll down and see how it looks. If
everything is good, click the Submit button and your post, with your photo, is up on the board.
All that the "Enter an image" button really does for you is surround your image link (URL) with the image markup characters "".
If you find it easier, you can simply paste your image link (URL) into the post and then surround it with the markup tags. The end result should
look something like this in your post:[
After you submit your post, your image should show up.
