You may have noticed there's a thread in each forum, near the top, that discusses BMW's most recent release regarding a possible ESA rear suspension issue (sounds like it's inside the rear shock they purchase from a vendor). Regardless, we have taken the nearly unprecedented action (thanks to Admin Mike who took point on this) of making this thread a Global Announcement so that new RTW owners, and/or their friends, can see it and spread the word.

Our BMWSportTouring community serves many purposes, among which are camaraderie, shared experiences, technical knowledge and striving for improved riding skills and safety. It is in that vein that we felt it of the utmost importance to use this board to share this news (and pending recall, we assume) so that our members can have the safest, most enjoyable experience aboard their new RT's.

Speaking with two dealers this morning, it is expected that BMW will have the affected VIN's published shortly, and that the issue with the rear shock (again, "assumed issue") will be sorted and corrective action will begin.

Cary, Gleno, Rodger, Paul,
