Afternoon everyone:
Today one of my riding partners was struck and killed by a semi on US50 just outside of Winchester, VA. The third member of the ride team may or may not be able to get his bike (St. Louis, MO). He is really struggling with the aftermath of this incident. I am trying to find a backup plan in case he decides to fly home. I am open to ideas and suggestions. I have called two BMW Dealers in the "region" and they have not been much help.
Than you everyone.
PM me for my contact info. We are staying at the Courtyard in Winchester VA.
His bike is a 2013 K1600GTL

I'm very sorry for your loss. Maybe rent a storage unit for a while in Winchester until you have a chance to go back and retrieve the bikes?

Deepest condolences on your loss. I live in Winchester, but I am currently in California for work. I have two suggestions. Contact either the Ducati dealer in Winchester (Duc Pond) or Beemers Uber Alles (located in Manassas). I am pretty sure both store bikes for pretty reasonable money but either might just waive the fees considering the circumstances of your request.

Evening Mike

Sorry to hear of your loss, never easy to deal with.

Possibly look in the MOA anonymous book as there are probably a number of members in that area that will recover the bike & store it for you until you can deal with it (usually for free or whatever you want to offer them)

I left my Anonymous book at home, forgot I have the digital version on my laptop.
Thank you everyone for the quick replies. Our third rider is going to trek home back to St. Louis as of now. I was just trying to get a back up plan in case he decided to fly home this evening.
Now its a long ride back to Raleigh.
Thank you all for you kind words, compassion and help during this time.
Hopefully I will see some of you next week in Maggie Valley.

So sorry for your loss. Here is today's news report of the accident
Very sad - doesn't look like there was anyway to avoid being hit. Makes me realize how we all must continue to tell those we love just how much we do, and to live each day to it fullest!

In a few days I will give a play by play after I get home and some time to work through my jumbled head.

Sorry for your loss and condolences to his family.
Perhaps you can find storage and arrange for professional bike movers to bring it to St. Louis.

We've all been here, it is an awful experience.
Please keep your head in the ride, stop if you find mind wandering.
See you in Maggie Valley.

If my mind wanders, should I follow it?

Thank you everyone for offering your help in this time. Rob (my other riding partner) is in Lexington, KY for the night. He and I both needed to pull over a few times during our rides towards home. I've been a paramedic for 17 years and I have seen more than my fair share of things I wish I could forget. Yet nothing prepares you for this.
Thank you all again for kindness in both deeds, offers and words.

Mike - I'm devastated to learn of this. I'm at a loss for words
- my heart goes out everyone involved.

I'm kind of equidistant between VA and St. Louis. I have 2 trailers. I'll help any way I can.

Our thoughts and prayers go to you, his family and everyone involved.

I live near ST. Louis and also have a trailer and could help out.

I haven't had too many Beemers, I just don't have enough time.

My heart felt condolences on the loss your your riding partner. The bonds we have with riding partners are strong and their loss is often as deep as would be a family member. I have suffered a similar loss in the past, as I suppose several others on this board have done.
I would like to daylight the routine bias in the media when a cager kills one of us. "As the truck came across the highway, Gosnell said it struck a 2015 Triumph motorcycle." You will note that the trucker did not strike a human being, he 'only' struck a motorcycle. The investigation is investigating an equipment failure as the cause rather than a human error because we all know that cagers have acute awareness of motorcyclists so, obviously it MUST be equipment failure. Makes me sick.
Medic Mike, sending positive thoughts to your and yours. Take care.

Red,
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
