Oldrider51
Need to replace the rear brake rotor on a 04 R1100S with ABS. Manual says bolts holding rotor on had Loctite 2701 applied, does anyone know to what temperature this fastener needs to be heated for removal? What threadlocker is required for the install on the new rotor, Loctite 272 Red? Link to comment

What threadlocker is required for the install on the new rotor, Loctite 272 Red? Afternoon 041100S You will need about 175°-180°f to get the bolts out without damaging the wheel threads. Problem is: there is no good way to measure the temp so it is basically an educated guess. (not enough heat can strip the threads & too much heat can damage wheel paint) Loctite 272 will work just fine. Put a little Loctite inside the holes on the internal wheel threads as putting it on the bolt going into a blind hole will hydraulic much of it back out as the bolt goes in. -- Just don't use too much Loctite as the bolt will want to hydraulic going into the hole. Oldrider51
Thanks, DR. Will try to get close to temperature using a yellow back thermometer near each bolt. The best I can do without a temp. gun. Link to comment
