ArizonaAl
I made it home at 2:20 John-- It was a nice ride, but a lot of traffic on I-17 north of Phoenix There was snow on the hills around Torrey when I left, but the roads were clear Link to comment

eddd
I made it home about 1:00. 32 with a few snow flurries by Fish Lake and the same crossing UT20. I didn't hit 50 until well south of Cedar City. Link to comment
BrianT
I made it home about 1:00. 32 with a few snow flurries by Fish Lake and the same crossing UT20. I didn't hit 50 until well south of Cedar City. Same as Edddd following his same route a little after him. Loved seeing the white snow on the red rock on my way out of town! After the late start waiting for the passes to deice, I didn't get home until 10 pm. Never saw above 78F through the desert. Made the traffic on the 15 a lot more tolerable. Why can't the desert stay that cool! Edited September 25, 2017 by BrianT Link to comment
Bill_Walker
Home around 4:30 today (Monday). Kenny and I waited around until about 10:30 on Sunday, then headed out over UT-12. Having surveyed the highway web cams using the UDOT app (h/t to BrianT), 12 looked like the route between Torrey and 89 least likely to have snow, and that proved to be the case. The road was clear and dry all the way to 89. We did see 33 degrees near the summit, though! Kenny turned back after the hogback, with plans to do Burr Trail/Notom Rd and then head east. Again looking at web cams, 9 through Zion looked like the only route from 89 to I-15 that didn't get snow, so that's the way I went. Since I came in that way, and they now make you buy a 7-day pass, that direction was free! At the one-way-at-a-time tunnel, I was stopped waiting my turn behind a couple of cars, with a 20 or 30 foot high cliff looming above us. Three bighorn sheep appeared on top of the cliff and watched us for a while. I couldn't get to my phone, so it didn't actually happen (i.e., no pix). Rather than fight Sunday night traffic heading back to LA from Vegas, I spent the night in beautiful and scenic Primm, NV. This morning, I took I-15 to Baker, then hit the desert two-lanes through Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree, and Mecca, 86 to Salton Seaway to Borrego Springs, where I got a run up the glass elevator without seeing another vehicle until three turns from the top, when I caught a slow-moving truck that I could pass after one turn. Nice! It hit 92 in Mecca, but was pretty comfortable before that. Link to comment

EffBee
Oops. Should have posted sooner. Left Torrey about 11AM, which is far later than my usual 8AM Sunday departure. Pulled into Mesquite, NV around 4PM after a cold but leisurely ride. Checked in, took a shower and went for the $6.95 Prime Rib at the casino. Looked fatty as it was being delivered to other tables, so I opted for the two-of-everything breakfast for $3. Couldn't finish it. Went back to the room and watched a little TV, then called it done at 8PM. Woke up at 2:30. The bike was loaded and I was on my way at 3AM. Nice cool nighttime ride. 53 degrees leaving Mesquite. Seriously, 53 degrees in September in a place that averages a daytime high of 118 in August. Actually turned the Gerbings on. Cruised thru Vegas before sunrise. Topped off at Stateline (Primm Valley) and then just rode on home, the sun rising on my back as I went thru Barstow (a blistering 57 degrees!!!). Pulled into my driveway at 8:15AM. Link to comment

biggy
Hi everyone! Sorry we are so late...we just got home late last night!(Thursday 9/28) Judith and I left Torrey between 10 and 11AM Sunday headed for the Grand Canyon. Got there late afternoon but early enough to have sunlight in the canyon. Left there Monday morning and retraced our trek through Grand Canyon then headed to Colorado Springs to visit the Stovalls. They are busy building a new home so we had dinner and a great time visiting. Everyone enjoyed meeting my new love, Judith. She liked meeting all of you, I'm happy and you all were great! Looking forward to next year! We're getting married in Macon, GA and we'll post an invite to the board...please rsvp if you want to attend! Edited September 29, 2017 by biggy Link to comment
Bill_Walker
That looks like Cedar Breaks, Eddo. MB> To me, it looks like the usual overlook next to Johnson Reservoir on the Fish Lake loop, but looking back at the mountainside instead of at the lake. Backside of this: I expect Cedar Breaks looks like a post-fire apocalyptic nightmare. Edited September 29, 2017 by Bill_Walker Link to comment
Kenny Haynes
Made it back to Tennessee on Thursday. Shot of the Burr trail switch backs. I took Nottam road back up to 24. Camped in Canyonlands and woke to a nice view of the canyon and white rim road. Couldn't resist the shafer switchbacks on the way back to moab. Nice to see everyone and meet some new faces!
