AT&T put fiber in our neighborhood recently and I got 300mb d/l internet service and TV for $120/mo vs. $260/mo for 70mb d/l & TV with Comcast.

AT&T prices will rise to meet Comcast's surely, but, perhaps, by then, Verizon's 5G, which is being introduced in Indy will be available and usable despite trees and clouds.

Free wifi for all! It's a natural right!

How much is just internet? Sling TV is $25. Hulu, Playstation Vue, any will be cheaper than AT&T.

Internet 1000 mbs/$90; Internet 300 mbs/$70; Internet 100 mbs/$50 - first year only.

Got Hulu. It's okay, but it, like Netflix, et al, has the same, old, tired movie selection. I jump in/out of the streamers when they offer original content that's interesting.

I'm jealous. I didn't know anyone was still laying residential fiber. Verizon was doing it with their Fios in this area a few years ago but basically packed up shop and stopped. We are stuck with Comcast being the only game in town if you want any sort of respectable internet connection. We're at ~$90 a month for JUST internet and its no where near the advertised speeds. I haven't run a speed test in a while, but I don't ever recall seeing anything above 50mbs. It gets the job done for what I need, but I hate the lack of competition. I'm glad to see a few other companies starting to push things.

I was reading up on that Verizon 5G a few weeks ago. It sounds very promising. I hope it works as well as advertised.

AT&T is just as predatory, so, this is a respite not a rescue.

5G isn't helpful for me as I run security camera system that requires either a VPN or port forwarding. I got it to work using the AT&T gateway as just that - a gateway and using the Netgear Nighthawk as the DHCP router just as before.

Had DishTV a few years ago. Hated the holes poked in the roof. Thunderstorms were an issue. Never had satellite uplink for internet understand it is slow.

Last I heard their satellite uplink was very expensive and susceptible to weather interference.
