RS displaces the RT

Huh... Now I no longer see the images, only "linked image" tags which don't lead anywhere. I see Stephen edited the post before I saw the embedded pictures and hasn't changed it since. I wonder what happened in the interim. I'm using Google Chrome under Win10.

Correction: I am still seeing the embedded images on my iphone (iOS) using Safari. I was probably using it to see them initially. Still don't see them on the laptop.

Same here, text saying only "Linked Image", in black, no indicator that these are actually links when I run the mouse over them. Using Chrome on Win7. Same for Opera, Firefox and IE.

If I select and right click the top one, I can open the picture in a new window. (I am a member at bmwmoa.org, with options set to stay logged in.) Going back to the original post, using the same browser, I now see the first picture (probably from my cache?), but the other two still show just "linked image".

At one time, the MOA forum did not let non-members view posted photos, so that could be having an effect here. Or maybe, like Photobucket, they discourage using their site for third-party hosting? But then why are some able to see the pictures with no trouble?

strataj, did you happen to view the photos over at bmwmoa.org before you saw them here?

I went to properties of one of the photos and copied and posted the address to another tab in IE11 on a windows 10 PC and got the bmwmoa.org site. I'm not a member to log-in so that was as far as I got. Photos I've inserted links that worked when I posted, but later had this problem too with link to my Window One Drive storage. I suspect from some research that our sight may be changing the linked info somehow???? :ohboy:

Looks great Stephen. I had some carbon on the bike and just order 3 more pieces from the link you included.

Suspension changes are next.

Have fun with it!

I can't say for sure, sorry. I'm on a PC and using Firefox as my browser.

You must be logged in to BMWMOA or have your browser set with the proper credentials to see photos linked there.

Never say never. BUT, I don't think this site changed the link unless it was manually changed by an admin (??). The software is not going to change the text of the link. Something else is going on.

So you finally found a worthy replacement for that red rascal? Congrats sir! :) For what it's worth, I got to spend some time on a brand new R1200RT this fall. To me, it handles as good if not better than my R1100RT. I was really surprised. When I hopped back on my R1200RT hexhead, it felt almost lethargic compared to the new waterhead.

That sure was a good looking bike in 2003 though. :)

I think you can count on seeing me on another RT in the future.

Just wanted to give the BMWST team a heads-up. The RS will be displacing the RT. In fact the the RS is the new RT for us old farts.

Please use this advanced notice to put your RT up for sale, assuming you have not already traded it in on an RS.

Cheers!

Know several who did this, all love it.

One did 2 up cross country w/camping gear.

52+ mpg and no loitering.

I sure like mine. Even though it is an 1150 R. Have both tall and short windshield. With side cases it is what Paul M. called a "RT-Lite". With temps below zero and mostly in the single digits for the past couple of weeks, it is sitting in the garage getting a good winters rest and looking forward to the coming riding season.
