No speedometer, brake failure light on

Spent the last 3 weeks farkeling my 2013 RT.

Flushed brakes and have good solid feel front and back. New shocks, added lights, installed V1 added

extra horn, stockers from earlier year dual horn RT's,

and a few more things.

Now I have the flashing brake failure light and speedo quits

working in a few 100 feet.I did not flush FD or touch speed sensor

wire. I have tracked sensor wire from FD to connector under seat.

No cuts or anything else seen.

Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks...

Afternoon mrzoom

It does sound like you have wheel sensor issue but without a GS-911 or dealer computer to read the stored failure codes it is just a guess.

With all that you have done to the bike you might have effected something.

Check both end wheel speed sensor cables for rubbing abrasion & good routing as well as good solid connections.

Try putting bike on center stand, then with key-on (engine not running) spin rear wheel then apply front brake lever. Does rear brake lock up when you apply the front brake lever?

Afternoon DR,

No lock up on rear with front brake. Is this still a linked syatem

in 2013??

Battery volts are good. Worked before I worked on it !!!!!!

Evening mrzoom

It's a partially linked system, front lever should run rear servo pump with rear wheel spinning.

If you are not getting any rear lock up from front lever then sounds like rear wheel speed input problem or possibly an ABS controller issue.

Without a failure code or codes it will be difficult to find.

Thanks DR,

Off to Bentonville if I can get in next week. Local dealer isn't

doing service as of yet. They just changed hands.

I even unhooked hyper lights and clearwaters just to check but

no difference.

Upon further review at the dealer we discovered that the parts fiche shows only one part number for the sensor ring from 05 to 2013, but... there are 2 pictures of 2 different rings.

Yup, the 2013 has fewer teath, notches, holes what ever than my 05 had and I had installed my extra set of wheels and tyres off the 05 since the 13 had a big ol plug in the

rear tyre.

Bentonville BMW was kind enough to sell me a ring off a 2012 RT that was side lined waiting till vinter to be repaired.

Result... everything works!!!!

The problem was self induced by me.

Rode home in the rain but it was alright. Everything else I added, modified, changed is working fine and I really like the new ride.

Now all I have to do is cut the windscreen down and get my V1, GPS and radio to my ear plug speakers.
