Rougarou
6 minutes ago, TEWKS said: And, I bet that Jeep of yours never got muddy? It did, but not by choice. Some of the trails had mud holes on them, and if a bypass of mud was available, I'd go around. If no bypass, I'd have to go through it. Playing in mud is 1hr of playing and four hours of cleaning,....I don't like cleaning. 3 Link to comment
TEWKS
Yeah, I would have taken the cleaner route myself, but there really wasn’t a better choice. 3:02 mark if it doesn’t start there… edit A lot of rain riding cleaned off most of the heavy stuff so cleaning wasn’t too bad. 1 Link to comment

I've done that on wet grass in my yard,....still less time to pick the bike up than to clean it And at trail speed, chance of injury is ever so slight. 8 hours ago, Skywagon said: @Rougarou Hey Richard...look two post above and see that yellow box Tewks has.....any idea what it is for? Dunno what that yellow box thing does, must be the new electric technology, I've got a red internal combustion one and its used for concrete and walls 8 hours ago, TEWKS said: Yeah, I would have taken the cleaner route myself, but there really wasn’t a better choice. 3:02 mark if it doesn’t start there… edit A lot of rain riding cleaned off most of the heavy stuff so cleaning wasn’t too bad. If there ain't a way around, there ain't a way around, but going through mud for the sake of going through mud is something I just don't get. Would you splash through road side puddles whilst driving/riding on the street?, or do a slight swerve to avoid it,....same thing in my mind. Link to comment

Redman
June 20 thru 23, rode to Southern Indinia (330 miles south of here), Bedford Indiania, for an annaul rally I have been going to since 2005. Is organized on a forum for 1970-80s Suzuki GSes. Up untill 2 years ago I had rode my 82 GS1100GK. But now I have been going on RT. In 2005 was mostly all Suzukis. THis year of the 20some bikes there, from PA, KY, OH, IN, MI, VA, NE, & MO. 4 bikes were Suzukis. We fill up a little old motel on what used to be the highway. And this year my son and SonInLaw attended too. (Tiger1050, FJR1300ES) SOme pics: A lot of roads south of there are like this. Me, son & SIL. Did make it to the Ohio River. Here near Maukport. Was mid 90s. Found a shady place for a little rest stop. Ten of us meet for lunch, and parked in town square. There is two of the four Suzukis. Medora Brick Kilns Was mid to upper 90s on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with no rain. Ride home Sunday did get rained on for about half hour, and temps in upper 70s. Had 1050 total miles. 14 Link to comment

Lone_RT_rider
I managed to drag my sorry but out of bed this morning and fight the ATL traffic to head to the Smokies for some riding on the BRP. It was 72F when I left the house and I managed to dodge the heat most of the day until I dropped off the parkway and came down to a soft landing in Maggie Valley, NC. I visited the Gouldcar at Wheels through time and got a room at the Johnathon Creek Inn. Today definitely did not suck. 😁 14 Link to comment

Michiganr80rt
Took the R1200RT up M-22 to Glen Haven on Tuesday. Total distance was a bit over 250 miles. The repaired left leg did ok; I have to stop every 45-60 minutes and give it a break from sitting with knee bent and feet on the pegs. It looks like I may do some longer rides this year but will end up with shorter distances each day. 6 Link to comment
Indy Dave
Glad the shake down ride went well! Love M22 from Acadia for as far North as one cares to go. Great towns along the way, nice sweepers and elevated views of the Big Lake, plus many inland lakes. What's not to like? You may have just inspired me to trailer the RT to Beulah so I can get a day's ride (or more) up there. Link to comment
nestastubbs
Sunday afternoon tour of East central Vermont, ran into a F850 rider and we took a detour on dirt roads around the railroad underpass that was shut down on Rt14. Showed him the way to 100 north and we had a chat about Vermont roads as he just moved to the area. On the way home, saw this in Brandon, might post to the Just Passing It Along thread. 2 Link to comment

I had lunch at the brewery in Beulah on my way back south Tuesday. 1 Link to comment

TEDZ
Fort Madison, IA today. A 1984 R100RS I bought at an auction in nonrunning condition in Oct. 2022. It compliments my R1200RT nicely. This is a popular location on a railfan website. 11 1 Link to comment
BrianT
Pics from later in the ride today. Pacific Coast Highway between Carmel and Big Sur. As an East Coast guy, the PCH is on my bucket list. Hope to ride a large part of it, up north (not sure how north to start) to south, with my wife on the back and just meandering along and taking in the views. Quite a bit different than things on the East Coast. Someday... 4 Link to comment

beemerboy
Did a nice day ride yesterday. Colorado Springs --> Florence --> over Wet Mountain Pass --> Bishop Castle near Rye, CO, --> Westcliffe --> Texas Creek --> Hwy 9 towards Guffey then into Florissant --> Woodland Park --> down Ute Pass into Colorado Springs. Parked across the road from Bishop Castle. https://www.bishopcastle.org/ Looking south towards Rye, CO. Stopped for lunch in Westcliffe. The smoke from Oregon and Canadian forest fires was bad....I was surprised at how the smell managed to be so strong this far away. 9 Link to comment
Janky59
Making my way to the Mansfield, OH area for the AMA Vintage Days today/tomorrow. Taking as much 2 lane as I can work in, I’ve often longingly looked at 2 lane roads paralleling I-70/68. Well, today I got to spend some time on them - heavenly. 10 Link to comment

TSConver
Finally stopped raining so I got out today. 150 miles to Peter's Creek Covered Bridge. Then ran up VA 8 for 8 miles to the BRP and took it back to Mt Airy and then home. About 350 miles. 10 Link to comment

Janky59
My return trip is underway, 1 day down, 1 to go. Rt 250 from Moundsville, WV to Fairmont WV is a great run. Minimal traffic, good pavement, great curves and scenery. It’s interesting, thinking of the boom/bust so many WV towns have seen. Imagine the activity back in the day at this bank in Littleton, WV. I love these majestic courthouses. Cadiz, OH - home of Clark Gable. Bridge over the Monongahela River in downtown Fairmont, WV. 10 Link to comment
RTinNC
Not real exciting but a nice 240 round trip ride over to Southern Pines for lunch. Nice country / farm roads. Great southern town. Then home with a stop at my favorite coffee shop m my, Badin Coffee for mango hibiscus iced tea and a peanut butter cookie. 😁 6 Link to comment
