Right now to make reservations, please ONLY call the hotel directly. 540-291-2121, click 1 to speak with an onsite reservation person.

Our rate averages $99 per night (+Tax) for a Wed-Sun stay. The main hotel was renovated a few years ago. In the main section, rooms are on the second floor and above. In the Veranda - adjacent to the main hotel - they have ground floor rooms. These rooms have not been renovated, but they are fine. If you want a veranda room, be sure to specify that.

Main Hotel - with rooms starting on the second floor. I don't have photos of these rooms, but they are larger compared to the Veranda rooms.:

Welcome one and all - and THANK ALL OF YOU for coming! The is a GREAT riding area and a really nice historic hotel - and a step up in many ways for us! Lots of historical significance and gathering places, including a fire pit with S'mores.

:ohboy: Apologies for being away from the board :ohboy:

I guess the only way to know -- more than a few days before the event -- that Chris K is coming is when Joel, as proxy, advises that Chris will be gracing us with his presence.

The Chaos Mountain Brewing Company has opened their Brewing Station and Food Trailer across the street from the Natural Bridge Hotel.

C'mon,.....it's a marketing gimmick to give the appearance that more are showing.

Although,......there will definately be more showing:18:

Thanks William - there isn't a simple cut and paste way to add the list to the slide. There are always formatting issues, and that's the reason the numbers get convoluted at times. In the short term, it's easier to manually enter the data. But when someone cancels who's deep in the mid-field, it becomes easier to cut and paste a list and reformat each entry. Either way, it's operator error and I appreciate the heads up!

PS: Everyone knows the BBR's don't start collecting commi$$ion$ till we hit 36 :4296:

But John, I think this conversation needs to start with Ruth and those famous Chocolate Chip Cookies she makes. . . . :lick:

From my experience, there are many different feelings on the dynamics of group riding.  For this group, what is the expectation for pace, vibe, distance, etc?

Do rides lean (pun intended) toward touring & sightseeing...are some rides of the sporty peg/knee dragging variety?

Yes.   For the most part, eveybody rides their own ride, even in a group.   It is still fun that way.   Most groups are small-ish (4-6)with a few exceptions.

You can Sport Tour, or just Tour.  Your choice.    Try to get a feel for who is doing what in the morning of your ride, or perhaps, the evening before.  You may even post your intentions and see if there are similar members that can meet up with you.

All the rides I participate in are geared (intended) toward Sport Touring, which involves lunch.  Oh, delicious lunch.  :eat:

A lot of folks have comms to chat, warn of issues, and such as the like.  I am involved with Cardo groups, but there are Sena groups and of course, no comms also.

What William said is spot on.

I will add that if you sit back and wait to be invited on a group ride (which I would say averages more like 3-5 riders), there's a good probability you may find yourself the last one in the parking lot ... alone. It doesn't make us an unfriendly crowd. It's just that it's largely up to you to get out and meet people. The event hosts will do what they can to introduce you, but really, we're all adults here do don't sit back passively ... waiting.

Also, many times people have pre-coordinated a day ride together (or two) for an event even before the event. So, if you talk to someone whose dance card is already full, don't be disappointed, just ask someone else.  I re-emphasize ... having these conversations the night before or online before the event is highly recommended.

Welcome to the board!

Cheers!

Some prefer to mix paved and unpaved, so, that's the first thing to determine.  If you're not comfortable on gravel, make sure the planned route doesn't include it.  I'm not a very good rider so I don't ride with others as I don't want to slow them or have them wondering if I slowed or crashed.  Most anyone will welcome you to their ride but you'll have to decide if their pace is too slow/fast/touristy, etc.  I believe most groups who ride together regularly use bike-to-bike comms (Sena/Cardo).  It's likely not necessary if you're not in the lead, but helpful IMO.

Welcome 9Mary7 - we look forward to meeting you!  Your buddy and his bike are always welcome  - all makes and models are welcome. (are they Vaxed?).

@Tpoppa - @TyTass , @wbw6cos and @John Ranalletta explained it pretty well. While we will provide routes and organize a meal or two (and maybe some S'Mores), it's up to you to decide what, where, when and with whom you'd like to ride. It's easy enough to find a group to ride with - keeping in mind the what the others mentioned as guidelines. And it is certainly common to hook up with a rider or group in the morning, the night before is probably best so route info, etc can be exchanged at that time. BTW - the parking lot turns into a large social at the end of the day and after dinner as well - so you'll have plenty of opportunities.

With that being said -  are ya coming? :90:
