Nav5 and multicontroller problem

After 9 years, my '15 RT controller wheel quit working with my Nav5. When I put it in the mount the bike recognizes it and powers it, but I can't do any movements on the Nav5 with my wheel. This problem seems to have started after I left the ignition key on overnight and it drained the battery, and the other thing was that I updated the maps on the Nav5.  I've tried the Nav5 on a friends XR 1000 and the same thing happens. His Nav5 works on his bike but when we mount it on mine, the same problem - the multiwheel doesn't do anything. 

 

Any ideas???

Did you clean the contacts on the back of the unit and the bike mount?    Try a pencil eraser.   Worth a shot.
