Favorite farkle?

I've noticed that very few of us ride stock versions of our RTs. If you had to identify your single favorite farkle, add-on, doo dad, or whatever, which would it be? I'm guessing that a lot of the stuff we buy wouldn't even be in consideration for the top choice.

My vote is for my +3 height CeeBailey windshield.

The H&K MP5 strapped on for stupid cage drivers. Oh wait, that was a dream. Damn. Back to carrying extra pipe wrenches.

HID and Hella Fogs.

Kissan signal minder. Not just for the auto-cancelling (if I forget) but for the running lights and for the ability to cancel the signals by pressing the same actuating button (left or right) to cancel. I truly hated the BMW cancel button that forces you to lift your right thumb in an unnatural motion.

Second choice is the delay relay mod for the ABS II startup.

Kisan Signal Minder.....

Man! Have you got that right. I just installed mine a few weeks ago and went on my first long trip on Tuesday. What a great improvement............

Plus other stuff,temp,max speed,miles today,miles this year,,etc

And you can take into your tent for time checks and morning alarm if you need one.

Hmmmm. I'm partial to the glue that holds most of the electric farkles together: my Centech AP-1 and the nifty little conduit runs for the integrated Autocom, Garmin StreetPilot with MP3 Player & Bluetooth and Passport SR-1, as well as power for the Motolights and Gerbings. The Signal Minder is pretty cool too.

My $7.00 aquarium thermometer stuck on the dash with doublesided tape and the probe rum over to the side away from the engine heat. Probably my favorite because it works and wasn't overpriced.

It'd be REALLY tough to pick just one. But I'll narrow it down to just the four I "couldn't" do without:

Ohlins

Rick Mayer saddle

Cee Bailey Windscreen (+7.5" Eurocut = Barn Door)

1. Escort 9500ix ------------ (worth its weight in $$$) ---------------------->|

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|--------> 3. Autocom Pro -------------> 4. UE-11 musician monitors. UE-11 -- :thumbsup:

2. Sony Walkman X-Series MP3 Player --- (spanks the iPod sound) ---->|

You actually have a pair of those UE-11 monitors? Expensive stuff. And you use them while riding?

Yes, and yes (+95% of the time it's under the helmet).

Best $1250 I've spent on riding stuff. Fit and sound on mine are phenomenal over my three other customs. I had to redo them as they rejected the first impressions as "Not deep enough." Had to go to ear doc and get some hardened stuff by the eardrum dug out which hurt a bit. I've slept with them on in bed. No fooling. I put one drop some special recommended hearing-aid lube on them and wipe it off. When they seal, they feel cold for a bit. Whole process took me over 3 months to get them.

Soundstage is spectacular with a good player like the X-Series and even better than the performer at times, imo. Can't beat two bass speakers (down to 10Hz), a mid, and a treble per ear and no booming or distortion when cranked way up or way down. I hate crappy sounding audio gear with a passion having had and spent a lot on it in the past. Cry once and buy the best as often you will -- sooner or late.

You can get audiophile quality on a bike - but it'll cost you.

Jazzy,

If I could afford it, I'd be right there with you. (Though I'd probably go line-out from my iPhone into an external amp.)

It has to be my customized tank bag that allows me to switch everything right where I need it.

This gives new meaning to the phrase "Don't leave home without it" (home that is!) :D

I have two.

My Alaska buttpad-I will never have a bike again without one (at least not for long).

My headphones-Etymotic ER6is. Probably any noise reducing headphones would get the same reaction. I love, love, love my headphones. Best money I ever spent on the ride....and they work great on airplanes too!

I added farkles as I over the years. My most recent will be my Autocom that is linked to my Zumo and iPhone. Never thought I can stay so connected while riding my motorbike. With my ER6i, I am in a world of my own. Don't worry, I still pay attention to all my surroundings.

Oh, my caliper mounted motolights are great also.
