Moto-Moto
The bike I bought has a Garmin (I believe) power cord run to the Ram mount, but I have a TomTom unit. I am trying to figure out if I should re-run the power cord from the TomTom or if I can cut the plug off the Garmin and replace it with the TomTom. Am I over-assuming that the cord is the same, just the plug is different? Thanks Matt Link to comment
johnlt
Yes you can cut it and splice in the TomTom but you'll need to make sure you find the plus and minus power lines which you can do with a volt meter becase there are 4 wires in that cord but only 2 are used. A better option would be to remove the Garmin cord from where it attaches to the source power and attach the TomTom cord there. Link to comment
11101110
If you do splice on another plug, don't cut both wires at the same time with power applied. I speak only as a witness to this experience. Link to comment
