Bigfish
Can the Nav IV map on the supplied DVD be installed onto an older NavIII unit? Trying to avoid paying $200+ for updating a Nav III. Thanks in Advance! Link to comment
marcopolo
Can the Nav IV map on the supplied DVD be installed onto an older NavIII unit? Trying to avoid paying $200+ for updating a Nav III. Thanks in Advance! I don't think so. As I understand it, each mapset is "tied" to an individual GPS. It used to be that you could load a mapset on two GPSs, but Garmin changed that policy a couple of years ago. You'll no doubt want to confirm this, either by phoning Garmin, or getting other answers online. Link to comment
Haynes
I think Marcopolo is correct. Each mapset is dedicated to one Garmin Unit. Garmin seem to have the hardware/software security as tight as it can be. Link to comment
Bigfish
Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks for the advise. Map updates should be more reasonable. Link to comment
AZgman
You can get lifetime map updates for your Garmin unit for about $100. The yearly update for my Honda GPS is $185! Now that is expensive... Link to comment
