anyone using microsoft street & trip software? opinions please

It works well. You can plan gas stops, rest stops etc. The new 2010 version will export your route as a gpx file for your zumo. You can buy it for less than $40. By the way, it's streets and trips. I think microsoft maps is for geocoding databases/
