I've owned a V-1, but now am looking at Adaptive Technology's TPX detector made especially for motorcycles. Any real world experience with it? Advice?

I have one, and it's fine. I use the remote helmet speaker and the visible alert, and I've never had a problem.

I've used em side by side at the same time...V1 and TPX.

No real comparison. The V1 is seconds ahead of the TPX in alert time.

The helmet speakers don't work if ya listen to XM or IPOD with inner ear speakers. I wanna thank Bill Walker for smashing it into the ground so I didn't have too.

My Escort Solo worked better.

I have one, have used it for about two years. I have not, as whip stated, compared it side by side to anther unit. So, all I have is real world comparisons and it provides the warnings I need. I have yet to be surprised unless someone is using instant on and I just did not get a sniff from a previous event.

As for the audio in in-the-ear speakers, mine is wired to my autocom unit and integrates as needed. It alerts over the normal audio whether it be from the GPS or from the CB. It' simple plug and play, if you will. I do use in-the-ear speakers.

If you look at the test results which are suppose to be impartial, it compares well to other units.

Advantages, its small, it's waterproof, does not need a sealed container to keep it dry, it has a single connection so you don't have to rely on the "phone" type connectors and is designed to be used on a bike and it is easily removed from it's holder to put in your pocket when you leave the bike.

I would look at the radar comparision test sites (choose more than one) you should get a fair comparision on how it responds to various types of signal.

Disagvantages, none

Jim
