Garmin 2720 screen jitters, enters screen calibration mode and other stuff,

This might have been covered before, I thought I read it here. It will do the above and also lose sense of touch so it will not respond. I have pushed my thumb around the screen hard and ran my fingernail between the screen and housing hoping to lossen any small sand or dirt. Seemed to help but not fixed. Anybody else seen this?

Since we don't have much of an income anymore, everything is now failing. I may have to get a job.

 

Garmin recommended an update, sadly did not work.

My 2610 did this a couple years ago. Essentially useless when that was going on. Contacted Garmin and they warrantied it to a refurb unit (was still barely in warranty). Replacement worked fine.

 

I've read about the jittery screen in other posts, and the bottom line for almost all of them was pay Garmin or replace the unit.

This problem is caused by a particle of dirt that gets sandwiched between the layers.

 

If it's out of warranty, you could take it apart and carefully clean between the outer screen cover and the screen.

I may have to try that, it is out of warrentee, I have nothing to lose.
