Garmin POI question,

Just got my first GPS, it's a Garmin 60CSx, I downloaded camping POI's into it using the Garmin POI loader,and they are listed in the unit as Custom POI's.

Is there a way I can make the new downloaded POI's show up their location on the basic map that came with the unit? Tried just can't figure it out,,,,

If there aren't too many, you can import them as waypoints in mapsource then send them down to the GPS. BUT there is usually a limit to the number of waypoints you can have, according to Garmin, yours supports 1000 waypoints (i.e. favorites).

 

I have 25K points of interest downloaded to mine, so I use them as POI's. If they are in their own subdirectories when you download them, they will create category names in the custom POI menu.

 

No doubt you have more than 1000 camping POI's. If so, you have to live with it, that's just the way Garmin designed it....
