Albert Posted April 5, 2010 Share Posted April 5, 2010 After purchasing my Escort radar detector I decided to mount it using the National Cycle mount that uses the empty mirror mounting holes on the RT (link below). Some may recall this was part of a personal campaign I called, "add perceived value to bargain priced items by increasing costs through over-accessorization" (hey, I like to think I did my little part for economic stimulus). Anyway, I was going through the motions of test mounting it this weekend and discovered an oddity in the mount. I tried for a few minutes to mount this in the left side mirror hole (clutch side) with no joy. It seemed the tapered section was not long enought to reach the bottom of the hole. I had already given up trying when I decided to try the right side mirror opening. To my surprise, the thing fit perfectly. I'm not sure why but this mount only fits the right side on my bike. I had hoped to mount this on the left but I can live with it on the right. Just an fyi in case you're considering the mount. In a separate issue I do find it odd that the mount is designed with 4 different sized allen bolts in 2 different unit systems (inch and metric). The mount itself is quite well made but it seems like someone went a little overboard in searching for the perfect size fastener for each point. National Cycle Radar Mount Link to comment
