really worth the price to upgrade the stock H4 to a Piaa 55/60?

About $ 60 each!

Now I run a car store brand 80/100,but it is not all that bright IMHO.

In a word - no. I've never seen any objective evidence that PIAA H4 bulbs are any better than anything else. In a Consumer Reports test (can't remember the date) Phillips and Osram rated tops, and they're less than $20.

For about 25% more $$ you can get HID

Or for the same price (per bulb) you can get a twin pack.

+1 on HID, Bi-Zenon for the 1100RT. You won't regret the nice lighting. Just adjust the lamp after installation...then again for 2 up riding just to be polite.

Or you might look at these

The Silverstar

Night Breaker

The Osram Silverstar puts out a lot more light than stock. The Night Breaker a little more than the Silverstar.

I tried both of these on my R100RS. As opposed to HID both maintain the cut-off lines for the high/low beams. So the light is properly focused.
