Paul In Australia
Hi R1200RT 2008 45K miles I have got a very small leak showing on the bottom mount of the rear shock right under the bike. Just a really small amount that shows after a ride and drips on the floor. Wipe it over and does not show again until next ride. very light oil. Had a look but can't see anything. Any opinions on likely causes before I start pulling things off to have a look? best regards Paul Link to comment
FrankBrown
Did you recently bleed the brakes? If so, could be brake fluid which will stop. If not, then I have no idea. Link to comment
JFab
I had a leaking Wilburs shock absorber on a K1200LT once. Could your shock be leaking? What color is the fluid? Joe Link to comment
Paul In Australia
Hi I am pretty sure it is the shock. It is a very light, almost light grey oil. regards Paul Link to comment
GordonB
Check the bottom of your rear brake reservoir see if it's wet. Link to comment
Beech
Clean all the suspect spots really well, maybe with some spray solvent if you have it. Then spray on some powdered foot spray for a fine layer of powder. This will tell you where the leak is when the powder gets damp from the oil. Sounds like the shock is gone. Link to comment
