dannys
Hi Guys, if any of you knows if a lock combination on a 49 litter top case can be changed to accommodate a new bike key.I recently got a K1300 GT and kept my top case from my RT that I sold. one dealer said it sometimes works and sometimes not and it may cost $100 to do. sounds a bit to much Link to comment
Rphoto
Go to a locksmith and they can change the tumblers in the lock for a lot less. Here' s a link to a thread on doing it yourself: http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=518925 Link to comment
Firefight911
Time for a new dealer!!! It's a ten minute job to do. I've had my dealer (for free) do it three times now. I do hate stupid dealer rantings! Link to comment

bobbybob
I re-keyed my Vario sidecases--looks just like the link posted. Do it yourself--you can't screw it up! Edit: heres a link for re-keying Vario panniers. Thats what I used-betcha its the same locks. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=300753 Link to comment
DiggerJim
Check out Max BMW's parts fiche - they sell the re-keying kit. It's 10 minutes and not hard. They did it for me though & didn't charge for the time, just the part when I had mine done at their CT dealership. Link to comment
