Best place to buy gear in SoCal?

I put money down on an 09 today. But I need and want to beef up my gear. I don't feel the jacket I have has enough armor (no back plate), I done have any pants, and need a new set of gloves.

I tried on a couple of BMW branded jackets at the dealer today, and I really liked them, but I'm pretty big on shopping around.

I'll probably not buy anything online because I really want to be sure of the sizing and fit. When I was in Ohio I was only about 25 mins from Competition Accessories, and 70 mins from Iron Pony. IP is like a Kmart sized store, but full of motorcycle gear.

Any place like that around LA?

You can try Bert's Mega Mall in Covina. It is enormous and has a pretty comprehensive inventory of gear. The prices are usually OK, but I don't really like the service. I prefer to put money into my local dealer's pockets whenever the prices are reasonable.

You might consider motoport down toward San Diego.

Pretty much lifetime gear. If you go down, they fix or repair the damaged article. It ain't cheap but, the cost is difficult to compare due to the quality of construction as well as the Kevlar materials if you go the Kevlar route.

You MUST check out this place in Long Beach!

They are a consignment reseller of motorcycle gear. I was just there on Saturday and was amazed at the great selection of leather jackets, pants, gloves and boots at excellent prices. They also have non leather items.

Definitely worth a look.

I second chaparral motorsports. It is def a kmart sized place with a solid selection of gear. They do have holes in their catalog (no Held gloves) but have a filled out line of cortech, tourmaster, alpinestars, Joe rocket, speed n strength, and all the boots and helmets you could ask for.

Def worth a trip even from west LA.
