austavla Posted August 22, 2011 Share Posted August 22, 2011 Hi from Norway. I have bought a BMW Radio, but do not know how to connect it. On the rear end of the radio there is a total of 8 wires: Antenna, Remote Control Unit, Right speaker, Left speaker and ground, these i know how to wire. The last 3 wire, i can't figure out. (i don't want to ruin the radio) One, red/yellow wire, marked as "Backup". One, red wire, marked as "Antenna amplifier". One, grey wire, marked as "Accessory". The bike owner before me have cut the plugs of the wire harness on the bike. On the Bike there is one red/white wire with +12v all the time, and two purple/black wire with +12v when the key switch is on. Can somone please advise me which wire goes where? John Posted August 23, 2011 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Hi Audun, I suspect "Backup" goes to a permanent +12v (Station memory and radio settings), "Antenna Amp" powers an antenna booster (if you have one), and "Accessory" goes to a +12v keyed to ignition on.
