Bill Lumberg
Anyone have a vendor for strobes/siren for these bikes? I have an RTP on the way, but while it has the wiring harnesses intact, I will need to replace the lights and siren. My shop does cars and kawasaki's but I can't find a good resource for BMW. This bike will be for use as an off-duty escort bike. Link to comment
tallman
Laws vary by state. Check them first. Code 3 is a source. Link to comment
Bill Lumberg
I am law enforcement. Legally, no questions. Install-shop wise, still searching. It's easy to get a Kaw or a tahoe outfitted, less so for a BMW motorcycle. Thanks for the response. Going to be expensive for sure. Link to comment
tallman
Depending on condition of wiring harness, and how the equipment was installed/removed, it may be a chore or a next to impossible task. I've seen harness replaced at times becasue the original install was so mickied mooser it was a big snafu to try and rehook. Clean connections and switches make it esier, obviously. Authority bikes can have poltergeists, good luck. Code 3 Link to comment
jviss
I recommend contacting one of the dealers that's decommissioning these bikes and ask the can help, selling you the parts you need. Link to comment
jviss
Max BMW in New Hampshire has a bunch of '1150RT-P's. Link to comment

lkchris
Some things possibly from your BMW dealer. Some part numbers here: http://bmwmc.net Link to comment
eddd
Wouldn't it be just as easy to install some LEDs? Low power, super bright, small, easy to wire. LEDs Link to comment
tallman
eddd, the wiring harness on an RTP can be severely altered. Hodge podgery, or not. It can be easy, or not. Depends. I'm repeatinf myself and I've only dealt with about 20-30 RTP's so not a huge sample. Ours were done pretty well, except in one case where a short created an issue. I've seen some.... don't think I have more to add. Link to comment

Bill Lumberg
Awesome responses. Thank you. I have two good options for outfitting. My agency is adding a tahoe shortly, and your suggestions may have led to us changing the shop we use for that too. Link to comment
