LiquiMoly Engine Oil

Beemerboneyard is offering LiquiMoly synthetic engine oil, 10W-50 in 5 liter jugs. SG & JASO MA rated. Seems like the perfect RT lube. The price makes it the same as Mobil-1 and less than BMW synthetic oil. Just wondered if anyone has any experience or opinions about it.

It's interesting that they say the Liqui-Moly Synth 4T is especially good for engines with wet clutches. Seems unlikely since even standard petro motor oil (auto) with friction modifiers cause clutch problems. In any case, let us know the stuff works out for you. Feel free to use the terms "snake oil" or "better than pie", depending.

'Way back - in the 80s maybe - one of the major oil brands briefly sold motor oil with graphite suspended in it. Guess that didn't work out since it didn't stay on the market for long.

Essentially that's what the JASO MA standard defines ... a lack or reduction in friction modifiers. The JASO MB standard does allow for friction modifiers and is applicable where the oil is confined to the engine like the dry clutch RT. So, going strictly by JASO, the RT would more appropriately use an MB spec and not any of the MA series (MA, MA1 or MA2) source

Probably because Castrol has chosen to market their MB spec oil to Scooter owners ...

Interestingly, all of the Redline oils for motorcycles are MB spec.
