doc47
What range tool would you find most useful for MC work? (ie: 0-80, 100-1000) They come in a variety of ranges. Link to comment
enfoman
It all depends on the torque you wish to have on the bolts you are setting. you generally want to stay in the middle of the road range of the wrenches ability to measure for better accuracy. Link to comment
UberXY
2 to 100 ft lb will do 95% of motorcycle work Link to comment
RTJohn
The 0-80 would take care of most of your torque needs. I have two sizes, a 1/4" drive for 80% of the stuff, a 5/8" drive for the rest like rear wheel bolts. Link to comment
lkchris
It's a BMW forum and BMWs are metric bikes and I'd suggest talking newton meters (nm) instead of SAE things like inch pounds and foot pounds. Any spec you find from BMW will be in nm and any conversion of that to SAE is subject to error. And, it's nm from the lowest to the highest so no worries converting from inch pounds to foot pounds and things like that. Link to comment
longjohn
I bought two. One is a 1/4 inch drive with a range from 5-30Nm, and the other is a 3/8 inch drive from 20-100Nm http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorcycle/1935001.html http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorcycle/G650GS11/1935002.html Link to comment
NJNeal
Yes, generally two are needed at a minimum. And longjohn's recommendations are a good place to start. If you are patient, Sears.com will have brand new Craftsman wrenches in these ranges for less than $50 shipped. Buying used wrenches on e Bay or Craiglist is a false economy as you'll have NO idea when they were last properly calibrated, and that's the whole point...accuracy. Link to comment
